Kings Highway at Pooh Bear Corner to reopen tomorrow
25 April 2012
The Kings Highway at Pooh Bear Corner, west of Nelligen will reopen at noon tomorrow.
"Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has carried out geotechnical inspections in consultation with the Eurobodalla Council and been advised the road is safe to reopen,” an RMS spokesperson said.
"This is good news for south coast communities who have not been able to use the road since a landslide closed it on 20 April.
"More than 1400 tonnes of rock and debris fell on to the road, closing both lanes.
"RMS and Eurobodalla Shire Council have worked together to get the road open again as quickly as possible," the spokesperson said.
RMS will now assess the impact and performance of the rock fall measures being used in the area and make modifications if needed to ensure the road continues to be safe.
