RMS launches online heavy vehicle maps
5 June 2012
A new online service which allows heavy vehicle drivers to look up which routes are approved for their vehicle has been launched by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).
“Heavy vehicle drivers can now access an interactive map from their computers, laptops or mobile devices which will allow them to specify what kind of vehicle they are driving and will bring up the routes they can take, laid out across a map of the state,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“Whether they operate a B-double of any length, a road train or an overheight vehicle, the new service will bring up a tailored map showing exactly which routes are available to them.”
The new interactive service replaces a static PDF map which could be downloaded via the RMS website.
“This new tool will be regularly updated and features will be progressively introduced to provide heavy vehicle drivers with an easier way to plan their journeys and ensure they comply with approved routes,” the spokesperson said.
Heavy vehicle drivers can access the new service by following the links from the RMS website at www.rms.nsw.gov.au.
