Speed limit changes on Mona Vale Road
8 June 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is advising motorists of changes to speed limits on Mona Vale Road in Terrey Hills in the next week.
An RMS spokesperson said the changes were part of the NSW audit of speed zones which assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.
“Mona Vale Road was identified as one of the Top 100 roads for speed zone review,” the spokesperson said.
“As a result of the review the 90km/h speed limit on Mona Vale Road between 215 metres west of Forest Way and 240 metres west of Cooyong Road will be reduced to 80km/h.
“This will improve safety for motorists travelling through the traffic lights at the intersection of Forest Way and when accessing commercial properties along this section of Mona Vale Road.
“The 70km/h speed limit between 240 metres west of Cooyong Road and 110 metres east of Cooyong Road will be increased to 80km/h.
“This will provide a consistent 2.45 kilometre length of 80km/h speed limit.
“All other speed limits along Mona Vale Road will remain unchanged.
“Motorists are reminded to drive carefully and pay extra attention during the transition period,” the spokesperson said.
Electronic message signs will be in place a week before the new speed zone signs are installed to advise motorists of the change.
These signs will remain in place for at least a week after the speed limit change.
RMS expects the new speed limit signs to be installed from 14 June, weather permitting.
