Speed limit change in Evans Head
20 June 2012
Speed limit changes will be implemented in the Evans Head CBD in the next two weeks, weather permitting.
A Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) spokesperson said a 40km/h high pedestrian activity area will be installed on local roads including Oak, Woodburn, Park and Cashmore streets, School, Davis, Illawong and Oak lanes and McDonald Place.
“The change will improve safety for pedestrians in this shopping area,” the spokesperson said.
“This new speed limit will not only make the CBD safer, it will also provide a more pedestrian friendly environment in a location with high levels of pedestrian activity.”
Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the change and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.
Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.
