Pedestrian safety improvements completed on Allandale Road at Cessnock
5 July 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will this week complete pedestrian safety improvements on Allandale Road near the intersections with McGrane and Jurd streets.
An RMS spokesperson said the existing marked pedestrian crossings just north of McGrane Street and south of Jurd Street have been relocated by about 30 metres.
“The relocation allowed for the installation of kerb ramps, additional lighting and central raised concrete islands at both crossings,” the spokesperson said.
“Moving the crossings away from the right turn bays into McGrane and Jurd streets will improve the visibility of pedestrians for motorists.
“This work aims to improve safety for pedestrians crossing this busy road,” the spokesperson said.
