Newcastle Harbour: Exclusive for sail past and tug boat demonstration
29 August 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of a sail past and tug boat demonstration on Newcastle Harbour this Saturday.
RMS Maritime Regional Manager Hunter/Inland Sonia McKay said boaters should keep clear of the harbour within 200 metres of the shoreline between Queens Wharf and the Newcastle Port Corporation Pilot Station.
“Between 12.30pm and 1.30pm the area will be subject to an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club event,” Ms McKay said.
“For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.”
Ms McKay said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
