Exclusive use for power boat races on Hawkesbury River this weekend
12 September 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of power boat races on the Hawkesbury River this weekend.
Maritime Acting Regional Manager Hawkesbury/Broken Bay Hendrik Clasie said boaters should keep clear of the Hawkesbury River at Governor Phillip Park, Windsor between South Creek and the Windsor Bridge.
“This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of power boat races organised by Hawkesbury Power Boat Club,” Mr Clasie said.
“Racing will take place between 12pm and 5pm on Friday, 14 September, and between 9am and 5pm on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September.
“For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.”
Mr Clasie said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a Boating Safety Officer or a Police Officer.
