Speed limit changes in Kelso
5 October 2012
Speed limit changes will be implemented on three streets in Kelso in the next fortnight, weather permitting.
“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) carried out a review of speeds on Gilmour Street, Marsden Lane and Hereford Street as part of the NSW audit of speed zones,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.
“On Gilmour Street, the existing 60km/h speed limit will be reduced to 50km/h from 140 metres south of the Marsden Lane and Hereford Street intersection to 160 metres north of the Marsden Lane and Hereford Street intersection.
“On Marsden Lane, the existing 60km/h speed limit will be reduced to 50km/h from the Hereford Street and Gilmour Street intersection to 100 metres east of the Hereford Street and Gilmour Street intersection.
“On Hereford Street, the existing 60km/h speed limit will be reduced to 50km/h from the Marsden Lane and Gilmour Street intersection to 230 metres west of the Marsden Lane and Gilmour Street intersection.
“The changes will provide a more consistent approach to speed limits along the road and better reflect the road conditions and the numerous driveways and kerbside parking on the roads,” the spokesperson said.
Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the change and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.
