Speed limit change in Wagga Wagga
12 October 2012
A speed limit change will be implemented on Hillary Street Hale streets in Wagga Wagga in the next fortnight, weather permitting.
“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) carried out a review of speeds in the area as part of the NSW audit of speed zones,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.
“On Hillary Street which becomes Hale Street, the existing 50km/h speed limit will be increased to 60km/h from the intersection of Byrnes Road to the intersection of Oura Road.
“The change reflects the high quality of the road which permits a higher speed limit to allow for improved travel times.
“Previously there were no speed signs, so this will give clarity to motorists,” the spokesperson said.
Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the change and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.
Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.
