Exclusive use for barefoot waterski races on Williams River

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of barefoot waterski races on the Williams River at Raymond Terrace this weekend.
Maritime Hunter/Inland Regional Manager Sonia McKay said boaters should keep clear of the Williams River between 9am and 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
“The navigable waters upstream from the Fitzgerald Bridge about 650 metres will be used exclusively for the safe staging of barefoot waterski races organised by the Australian Barefoot Racers Club,” Ms McKay said.
“The area will be marked with inflatable buoys and will be lit with yellow flashing lights.
“For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels,” she said.
Ms McKay said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
