Shared zone for Thomas Street and Railway Lane at Newtown
25 October 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will install a 10 km/h shared zone on Thomas Street and Railway Lane at Newtown on Friday 26 October.
“RMS will install a 10km/h shared zone near the new second entrance to Newtown Railway Station at the northern end of Thomas Street,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“The school zone was requested by City of Sydney Council to increase pedestrian safety in the area.
“RMS expects the new signs and road markings to be installed by COB Friday 26 October.
“The shared zone will require all motorists to give way to pedestrians within this area.
“City of Sydney Council has installed signage to ensure vehicles travel slowly through this area.
“Every effort will be made to minimise noise associated with the work.
“Motorists are advised to drive with caution, follow all signs and allow extra travel time.
“For more information about road safety visit RMS website www.rms.nsw.gov.au,” the RMS spokesperson said.
