Tenders for work on Swansea Bridge

26 October 2012

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is inviting tenders for proposed work to replace the fender system around the northbound Swansea Bridge.

The contract will involve removing the existing timber fender system and replacing a new steel system.

The fender system protects the bridge pylons from the impact of marine vessels.

The Swansea Bridge on the Pacific Highway is an important gateway spanning the entrance to Lake Macquarie between Swansea and Blacksmiths. It provides an alternate route along the highway between the Central Coast and Newcastle.

Work is expected to begin in April 2013.

Tenders for the contract close at 2.30pm Thursday, 29 November 2012.
