Night work on Athol Wharf Road near Taronga Zoo
9 November 2012
Motorists are advised Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will carry out repair work to strengthen the sea wall slope and nearby footpath on Athol Wharf Road next to Athol Ferry Wharf terminal which services Taronga Zoo.
RMS will repair cracks and inject grouting to strengthen the wall and remove vegetation from Monday 12 November for about six weeks.
Work will be carried out on weeknights between 8.30pm and 5.30am, weather permitting.
Ferry and bus services will not be affected and the area will be clearly signed to remind passengers to walk safely around the work area including to the Taronga Zoo entrance.
No parking changes will be needed on Athol Wharf Road, but a safe working area will be set up each night on the footpath nearby the ferry terminal.
Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of noise on local residents and business operators.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution, obey all signs, including reduced speed limits, and allow extra travel time.
