Boaters alerted to exclusive use swim near Cockatoo Island on Sydney Harbour
14 November 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of a swim on Sydney Harbour on Sunday.
Maritime Sydney Harbour Operations Manager Stephen Brown said boaters should keep clear of the area on the southern side of Cockatoo Island on the Parramatta River, Sydney Harbour between 9am and 11am.
“This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of the 2012 Dawny to Cockatoo Swim,” Mr Brown said.
“For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by control vessels.”
Mr Brown said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
