Speed limit extension on Pittwater Road at North Narrabeen
21 November 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will extend the 60 km/h speed limit on Pittwater Road to the Wakehurst Parkway intersection at North Narrabeen.
“RMS carried out a review of Pittwater Road as part of the NSW audit of speed zones,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.
“The 60km/h speed limit on Pittwater Road will be extended up to the Wakehurst Parkway intersection to better reflect the road environment.
“New speed limit signs will be installed on Pittwater Road around the Wakehurst Parkway intersection from Thursday 28 November, weather permitting.
“The speed limit extension is expected to improve safety along this short length of Pittwater Road, North Narrabeen by providing a more consistent speed limit.
“As part of the work RMS will also upgrade curve warning and advisory speed signs on Pittwater Road between Hadleigh and Anzac avenues at Collaroy.
“Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the change and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.
“Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.
“For more information visit www.rms.nsw.gov.au,” the spokesperson said.
