New 40 km/h high pedestrian activity area for Booth Street at Annandale
22 November 2012
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and Leichhardt Council will introduce 40km/h speed limits along Booth Street at Annandale from 35 metres west of Annandale Street to 35 metres east of Nelson Street to improve pedestrian safety.
“The reduced speed limits are being implemented along Booth Street because of the high levels of pedestrian activity around the local shops and businesses in the area,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“Leichhardt Council has installed signage and pedestrian facilities throughout the area to improve pedestrian safety.
“New 40 km/h speed limits will also be introduced on short lengths of Annandale Street, Johnston Street, Johnston Lane/View Street, Trafalgar Street, Wells Street and Nelson Street around Booth Street at Annandale.
“RMS will install the new signs from Wednesday 5 December, weather permitting.
“This road safety initiative is jointly funded by RMS and Leichhardt Council.
