Sydney Harbour Bridge southern toll plaza precinct upgrade submissions report online
Thursday 10 January 2013
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is inviting the community to view the submissions report on the review of environmental factors (REF) for the Sydney Harbour Bridge Southern Toll Plaza precinct upgrade.
“RMS proposes to realign and resurface the traffic lanes on the southern approaches to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and improve access to the northern Sydney CBD,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“RMS thanks residents and community groups who provided feedback to the REF which was on display in November 2012. The submissions report is available online at www.rms.nsw.gov.au/roadprojects.
“The upgrade involves removing the toll booths and improving the road environment in the southern toll plaza precinct to simplify traffic movements to the Western Distributor, the northern Sydney CBD and city centre.
“The tolling system and southern toll plaza precinct upgrade is part of work planned for the Sydney Harbour Bridge precinct which includes initiatives designed to look after, improve and adapt the bridge to the needs of a modern city, while preserving the beauty and character of the structure and its setting.
“The majority of submissions received supported the upgrade and planning is now under way for work to start in early February 2013. The community will be kept up to date on the progress of work with project information letters to be sent out in the coming weeks,” the spokesperson said.
