Night work starts on safety trial for Fullers Road at Chatswood
Tuesday 29 January 2013
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will start line marking on Fullers Road at Chatswood as part of a six month trial to improve motorist and pedestrian safety.
“RMS developed the trial in consultation with local community members and Willoughby City Council in September 2011 to address speed and safety concerns on the road after several crashes,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“Community feedback has resulted in the design of a six month line marking trial of areas where medians turn bays and travelling lanes would be to improve road safety.
“RMS will carry out line marking from Monday 4 February to Monday 4 March 2013 on weeknights between 8pm and 5am.
”Partial lane closures will be needed to create a safe work space during work hours.
“Traffic controllers will be on site to help motorists and pedestrians reach residences and direct passengers to relocated bus stops during the work.
“RMS will assess the effectiveness of the line marking throughout the trial and if an improvement in road safety is not achieved the lines will be removed and RMS will carry out further investigations to improve safety on the road,” the spokesperson said.
