Permanent message sign for Windsor Road at Baulkham Hills
30 January 2012
Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott today announced Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will install a variable message sign on Windsor Road, 40 metres south of Chelsea Avenue at Baulkham Hills.
Mr Elliott said the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) invited community feedback in July 2011 on the proposal to install a permanent message sign southbound on Windsor Road to provide motorists up to date traffic conditions and reduce congestion.
“Feedback received highlighted community concerns around the installation of the VMS, the need for it to effectively reduce congestion and not obstruct the view," Mr Elliott said.
“RMS will monitor the effectiveness of the sign as part of the NSW wide network of permanent variable message signs and provide a report to the community.
“RMS will also reduce the visual impact of the sign by planting trees on the north western side of Windsor Road.
“Work is expected to start in the last quarter of 2013 and residents will be kept informed of work start dates, times and conditions once they have been confirmed."
Work will include:
- Underground service investigations to determine the best location.
- Constructing a footing and installing the support structure, message board and cabinet.
- Excavation work to bring power and telecommunications cables to the site.
- Trimming tree branches near the signs to ensure the signs are clearly visible.
