Tree management work on Kings Highway at Braidwood
20 Feb 2013
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will be taking cuttings in the next fortnight from the existing golden poplar trees on the northern approach to Braidwood on the Kings Highway.
An RMS spokesperson said generating new golden poplars from existing trees for replanting is one of the options being considered as part of the draft Tree Management Plan.
“The draft plan was released by RMS and Palerang Council in December 2012,” the spokesperson said.
"RMS has worked council and Corkery Consulting to prepare the draft plan for the long term management of the avenue trees lining the Kings Highway near Braidwood after a workshop held in 2012.
“Although options have not yet been decided, February is the key time to take cuttings from golden poplars and RMS did not want to miss the opportunity should the cuttings be required at a later stage.
“The draft Tree Management Plan is on display for community comment until Monday 4 March,” the spokesperson said.
