Speed limit change on Addison Road, Marrickville
20 March 2013
Motorists are encouraged to slow down on Addison Road, Marrickville before the speed limit changes in the coming weeks from 60 km/h to 50 km/h to improve road safety.
“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) carried out a review of the speed limit on Addison Road from Livingstone to Enmore Roads after representations from Marrickville Council,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“The reduced speed limit aims to improve road safety for pedestrians and motorists travelling between the many residential and commercial properties along the road.
“The safety measure also aims to reduce the likelihood of rear end crashes on the road when motorists are accessing the many closely spaced driveways.
“RMS will install the new 50km/h speed limit signage from Monday 8 April on Addison Road between Livingstone Road and Enmore Road.
“Electronic message signs will be on site to notify motorists before the change.
“Motorists are advised to drive with caution, obey all signs, including reduced speed limits, and allow extra travel time.
“For more information about road safety visit the RMS website www.rms.nsw.gov.au,” the spokesperson said.
