Pearl Bay Avenue trial update
Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) today announced the start of the next phase of the Pearl Bay Avenue morning peak flow trial.
The trial started in January with the first phase involving closure of the right hand turn into Pearl Bay Avenue during the morning peak, with travel times monitored for three months.
“The road will now be opened during the morning peak and travel times assessed for a comparative three months,” RMS General Manager of Traffic Management Craig Moran said.
Travel time data collected during the trial would then be analysed by RMS with a final recommendation to be made in late July.
“Our priority is to improve the quality and safety of peoples’ journeys and if we can safely reduce travel times for motorists to travel to their destinations during peak hour, with minimal cost to taxpayers it makes sense to do so,” Mr Moran said.
