Great Western Highway lanes to open to traffic at Woodford
Motorists will be able to travel on new lanes of the Great Western Highway between Woodford and Hazelbrook this month as upgrade work on the eastbound lanes is completed.
“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will complete the eastbound lanes of the highway between Arthur Street at Woodford and Beechmount Avenue at Hazelbrook on Friday 16 August, weather permitting,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“After removing barriers and temporary ramps, RMS will direct traffic onto the newly completed lanes on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August.
“Traffic controllers and electronic signs will be in place to direct motorists.
“Motorists are reminded to obey reduced speed limits and the directions of traffic controllers.
“Completion of these lanes is a great step in the final stage of the upgrade of the Great Western Highway to a four lane divided road between Woodford and Hazelbrook.
“RMS will now start work on the westbound lanes.
”Residents have been advised by letter of changes to local road access including to the Park Road intersection while work on the westbound lanes is carried out.
“RMS also reminds residents to have their say on options to help pedestrians safely cross the Great Western Highway at Woodford by Monday 5 August,” the spokesperson said.
