Great Western Highway lanes to open to traffic at Woodford
Motorists are reminded they can travel on new lanes of the Great Western Highway between Woodford and Hazelbrook this weekend as upgrade work is completed.
“Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) will complete the eastbound lanes of the highway between Arthur Street at Woodford and Beechmount Avenue at Hazelbrook on Friday 16 August, weather permitting,” an RMS spokesperson said.
“After removing barriers and temporary ramps, RMS will direct traffic onto the newly completed lanes on the morning of Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 August.
“Traffic controllers and electronic signs will be in place to direct motorists.
“Completion of these lanes is a great step in the final stage of the upgrade of the Great Western Highway to a four lane divided road between Woodford and Hazelbrook.
“After opening the eastbound lanes to traffic, RMS will start work on the westbound lanes.
”Residents have been advised by letter of changes to local road access while work is carried out on the westbound lanes including at Park Road and Glen Street at Hazelbrook.
“Motorists are reminded to obey reduced speed limits and the directions of traffic controllers,” the spokesperson said.
