Changed traffic conditions on the Sydney Harbour Bridge
Motorists and pedestrians are advised night work will continue tonight from 11pm to 8am tomorrow near the eastern gantries of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
A Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) spokesperson said minor traffic impacts were expected for concrete cutting work. Work will also be carried out on the western gantries from 11pm Sunday 25 August to 6am Monday 26 August.
“RMS will carry out concrete cutting work near the toll gantries between the southern pylon and the southern toll plaza as part of preliminary work for the Southern Toll Plaza upgrade,” the spokesperson said.
“To ensure the safety of all road users, RMS will partially close a small section of the pedestrian walkway for several hours tonight on the eastern side of the bridge and sections of lanes 7 and 8 of the bridge for the work.
“Traffic controllers will escort pedestrians around the work site, with the work area barricaded to ensure pedestrian safety.
“Minor traffic impacts are expected on Sunday evening for work to be carried out on the western side of the bridge for concrete cutting work in lanes 1 to 3,” the spokesperson said.
Motorists are reminded a 40km/h speed limit will be in place on both nights near the work for the safety of workers and all road users.
RMS thanks motorists and residents for their patience while work is carried out.
