Short list invited to tender for Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads upgrade
The Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads Pacific Highway upgrade is a step closer with two companies invited to tender to design and build the upgrade.
“The tender process is one of the first steps towards building this vital upgrade on the Pacific Highway and opening it as quickly as possible,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
“The upgrade includes a four-lane divided road which will improve safety for all road users.
“The jointly funded project is progressing well with the project team continuing work to acquire land and carry out further investigations.
“Almost 80 per cent of properties have been acquired and negotiations are under way with remaining land owners.
“The project will upgrade the existing highway from Allgomera, south of Macksville, to Nambucca Heads.
“It will include building new interchanges at South Macksville and Warrell Creek and new bridges over Warrell Creek and the Nambucca River.
“The contract is expected to be awarded early in 2014,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
The Warrell Creek to Nambucca Heads upgrade is the second stage of the Warrell Creek to Urunga upgrade.
