Changes to speed limit at Lennox Head

A speed limit change to improve safety for motorists on Bundaleer Road at Lennox Head will start within the next fortnight, weather permitting.

“The changes to the speed limit resulted from a speed zone review carried out in accordance with the NSW Speed Zoning Guidelines and in consultation with local council,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

“The speed limit will be reduced from 100km/h to 60km/h for the full 1.2 kilometres of Bundaleer Road.

“The review assessed a number of factors including road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.

“This change reflects growing rural residential development along the road and will improve road safety.

“Warning signs to alert motorists of the speed limit changes will be in place when the new speed limit signs are installed by Ballina Shire Council,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

These warning signs will remain in place for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.
