Great Western Highway weekend upgrade work

Motorists are advised minor work will be carried out as part of the Great Western Highway upgrade on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September at Woodford, Lawson and Hazelbrook.

“Roads and Maritime Services is upgrading the Great Western Highway from Winbourne Road at Hazelbrook to Station Street at Woodford to a four lane, divided highway,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

“Minor work will be carried out at the same time as a Sydney Trains planned maintenance closure to reduce additional closures and delays to motorists.

“Work will take place between 6am and 9pm on both days at three locations next to the highway in the rail corridor.

“Roads and Maritime will install new pipes next to the road, trim trees, remove concrete barriers and temporary fences and carry out repairs to walls and wiring as part of the work.

“Motorists are reminded to slow down on the highway near Ferguson Avenue and Queens Road at Lawson, Rosedale Avenue and Clearview Parade at Hazelbrook and Park Road at Woodford.

“Traffic control and electronic signs will be in place to direct road users and ensure access to local roads,” the spokesperson said.

Every effort will be made to minimise the impact on residents.
