Dragon boat regatta on Clarence River
21 October 2013
Boaters should keep clear of an area on the Clarence River this weekend as Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of dragon boat races on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October.
The exclusive use area applies from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday 26 October on the river next to Duke Street at Grafton to about 3.5 kilometres upstream, north of Susan Island.
An exclusive use area will also be in place on Sunday 27 October from 8am to 5pm on the river next to Duke Street to an area about 500 metres upstream, north of Susan Island.
This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of the boat races organised by the Grafton Dragon Boat Club.
The areas will be marked by buoys and monitored by club control vessels.
For safety reasons, vessels not involved in event should not enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
