Tenders called for upgrade of Richmond Road

Tenders are being called to build stage two and three of the upgrade of Richmond Road from north of Townson Road to 900m north of Garfield Road West.

“Roads and Maritime Services will widen Richmond Road from two lanes to a four lane divided road,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

“Richmond Road is a key arterial road for the North West Growth Centre,” the spokesperson said.

“Tenders will be called on 11 November and close in December with work expected to start by mid 2014.”

Stage two of the upgrade will include new intersections with designated turning lanes and traffic lights at Vine Street and Garfield Road and also includes provision to widen the road to six lanes in the future.

“We are providing bus priority measures, indented bus bays, street lighting and an off-road shared path for public transport users, pedestrians and cyclists.

“Upgrading this road will improve road safety and will cater for the increased traffic predicted for the corridor in coming years as the North West Growth Centre develops.

“The upgrade will enhance access and travel times for passenger journeys and road freight in Sydney’s North West and future growth centre precincts along Richmond Road.”

Stages two and three of the Richmond Road upgrade are funded by the NSW Government through the Housing Acceleration Fund.
