Boaters alerted to exclusive use barefoot ski races on Manning River

14 November 2013

Boaters should keep clear of an area of the Manning River this weekend as Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of barefoot ski races.

The exclusive use area applies near the Manning Waters Estate launching facility at Taree West.

This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of barefoot ski races organised by the Australian Barefoot Racers Club.

Skippers should avoid this area as it will be closed to recreational and commercial boating for safety reasons.

Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.

Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in craft under 4.8m when alone, at night or offshore
