Speed limit changes in Great Lakes

Motorists are encouraged to slow down on sections of Pindimar Road at Pindimar and Mungo Brush Road at Tea Gardens with speed limit changes due to be implemented in the next fortnight, weather permitting.

Roads and Maritime Services carried out a review of the speed limit on both roads in response to community feedback.

“The review assessed a number of factors along the roads including the road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.

“The existing 100km/h speed limits will be reduced to 80km/h along Pindimar Road from 100 metres north of Bundabah Road to 100 metres south of Bundabah Road to cover the Bundabah Road intersection.

“The existing 100km/h speed limit will be reduced to 80km/h along Mungo Brush Road from just north of Albatross Avenue to 500 metres south of Bombah Point Ferry due to the narrow road width, number of tight bends and pedestrians crossing from camp sites to beaches.

“Warning signs will be in place on Mungo Brush Road to advise motorists of the changes and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed.

“Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits,” a spokesperson said.
