Speed zone changes to improve safety on Kareela Road at Penrose
Motorists are encouraged to slow down on a section of Kareela Road at Penrose with speed limit changes due to be implemented from Monday 9 December.
Roads and Maritime Services reviewed the speed limit on this section of road as part of the NSW audit of speed zones and in response to community feedback.
“We reviewed factors including the road environment, crash history and the existing speed limit as part of the review,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
“The existing 80 km/h zone will be reduced to 60 km/h on Kareela Road, north of Mundego Street, to improve safety.
“Warning signs will be in place to advise motorists of the upcoming change and will remain for at least a week after the new speed limit signs have been installed,” the spokesperson said.
Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to provide feedback and receive updates on changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area.
