Changed boating conditions for dragon boat regatta
Changed boating conditions for dragon boat regatta on Clarence River
14 February 2014
Boaters are advised to keep clear of a section of the Clarence River on Saturday 22 February and Sunday 23 February for the safe staging of a dragon boat regatta.
Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence on the river next to Lawrence Memorial Park, Richmond Street at Lawrence on both days and an area about 500 metres upstream on Saturday between 2pm and 4pm and an area about 300 metres upstream on Sunday between 8am to 4pm.
The area will be marked by buoys and monitored by control vessels.
Skippers should avoid this area as it will be closed to recreational and commercial boating for safety reasons.
Vessels not involved in event should not enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.
Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in craft under 4.8 metres when alone, at night or offshore.
