Full closure of M4 Eastbound on ramp
21 March 2014
Motorists are advised the eastbound on ramp to the M4 from Silverwater Road will be closed on Sunday night as part of the major maintenance upgrade being carried out on the Motorway between Homebush and Silverwater.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said around 100,000 motorists use the M4 Motorway every day and a $3.4 million project has been under way since August to provide a stronger, more durable road surface and improve road safety.
“Work has involved removing and replacing the asphalt surface across both the east and westbound lanes and on and off ramps,” the spokesperson said.
“As part of updating the under road sensors which inform travel times, the eastbound on ramp to the M4 from Silverwater Road will be fully closed to traffic between 11pm this Sunday to 4.30am the next morning.
“The sensor replacement work is being carried out in addition to road resurfacing and line marking.”
Minor delays are expected due to the ramp closures to ensure the safety of road users and workers. Electronic message signs will be in place to advise motorists of detours in place.
Road users should follow the directions of traffic controllers on site and plan extra travel time.
The M4 maintenance project is expected to be completed by the end of the month, weather permitting.
Roads and Maritime would like to thank motorists for their patience while work is carried out.
Every effort will be made to reduce the impact of noise on residents.
