Changed boating conditions

3 June 2014

Boaters are advised to keep clear of a section of the Tweed River at Murwillumbah on Saturday 7 June for the safe staging of a rowing regatta.

Roads and Maritime Services has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence on the river from the Condong to the Murwillumbah Road bridges from 7am to 5pm.

The area will be marked by buoys and monitored by control vessels.

Skippers should avoid this area as it will be closed to recreational and commercial boating for safety reasons.

Vessels not involved in the event should not enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police officer.

Roads and Maritime reminds people to wear a lifejacket when boating, especially in craft under 4.8m when alone, at night or offshore.
