Community information sessions for Rankin Park to Jesmond project
25 February 2015
Roads and Maritime Services is progressing plans for the Rankin to Jesmond project with two community information sessions to be held next month for this section of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass.
A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the NSW Government announced a $280 million funding commitment to the Rankin to Jesmond section of the bypass in June last year and the contract for the concept design and environmental assessment was awarded in November last year.
“The first stage of work to produce a refined strategic design is currently under way with the strategic design expected to be displayed for community comment in mid 2015,” the spokesperson said.
“Community members will be invited to provide feedback early next year when the concept design and environmental assessment is expected to be displayed.
“Two community drop in sessions will be held at Stockland Jesmond Shopping Centre on Thursday 12 March from 4pm to 8.30pm and Saturday 14 March from 9am to 12.30pm.
“The information sessions will give community members opportunities to speak directly to the project team and ask questions about the project.”
The Roads and Maritime project team welcomes feedback to be considered during the strategic design refinement process.
