Final closure of M1 Princes Motorway and Picton Rd for essential maintenance
4 March 2015
Roads and Maritime Services reminds motorists the final closure of the M1 Princes Motorway and Picton Road will be carried out this Saturday night for essential maintenance work.
Known locally as Mount Ousley Road, the M1 Princes Motorway will be closed in both directions from just north of the Gipps Road overbridge to Bulli Tops, while Picton Road will be closed in both directions between Wilton and the M1 motorway.
The roads will be closed between 7pm and 5am on Saturday 7 March, weather permitting.
The first closure took place on 21 February and this final closure will allow Roads and Maritime to carry out essential work including road resurfacing, drain maintenance, installation of new road signs, repairs to guardrails and pruning of low hanging trees.
Motorists are advised Old Mount Ousley Road between Gaynor Avenue and Mount Ousley Road will also be closed.
These detours will be in place with temporary traffic control measures and signs to advise motorists:
- Southbound and northbound motorists will use Bulli Pass and Memorial Drive and should allow an extra 10 to 15 minutes for their journey
- Light vehicle drivers travelling to and from the Hume Highway will be detoured via Wilton and Appin roads and Bulli Pass and should allow an additional 20 minutes
- Heavy vehicle drivers travelling to and from the Hume Highway will be detoured via Narellan Road, Appin Road and Bulli Pass and should allow an additional 40 minutes.
Heavy vehicles longer than 19 metres would be required to decouple before travelling on Bulli Pass.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this essential work is carried out.
