Parking changes at Kelso part of $85 million highway upgrade
6 March 2015
Road users are advised as part of work progressing on the $85 million upgrade of the Great Western Highway parking changes are in place along the shoulder of the highway at Kelso for work to be carried out safely.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the Roads and Maritime Services project team is working closely with local businesses to minimise the impact of the road work.
“Concrete barriers had been placed along the southern edge of the highway from Littlebourne Street to the former Downer EDI driveway to provide a safe work zone for continuing early work,” the spokesperson said.
“Work to expand the road to four lanes is continuing with the road shoulder to be closed to carry out work safely.
“New directional banners are in place to indicate the driveway of each business and residence to help with access along this section of road.
“The project team has consulted widely with businesses and residents on these necessary changes which are required for safety reasons with feedback generally positive.
“Consultation will continue to ensure all stakeholders are aware of closures and the work staged to reduce impact to business.
“The community will be advised in advance of any impacts to traffic.”
