Pedestrian safety to be improved on Porter Street Bridge
6 March 2015
Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists of changed traffic conditions on the Porter Street Bridge on University Avenue next week for maintenance work to improve safety for pedestrians.
Night work will take place between 7pm and 3am from Tuesday 10 March to Thursday 12 March to replace a damaged handrail and repair the concrete footpath.
One lane will be closed for work, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this work is carried out.
The project is part of Roads and Maritime’s commitment to delivering safe and high quality services to the Wollongong community.
The work is part of a $26.5 million bridge maintenance program in 2014/15 in the southern region of NSW, which stretches from Wollongong to Eden and west to the Snowy Mountains.
