Work to improve bus access on Erskineville Road in Newtown
11 March 2015
Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists changed traffic conditions will be in place from tomorrow for night improvement work on Erskineville Road in Newtown as part of the Bus Priority Program.
A spokesperson said the project will involve improvements on Erskineville Road between King Street and Angel Street to improve the reliability of bus services and reduce bus journey time.
Roads and Maritime will deliver the final three stages of the work starting with excavating small areas of the road to inspect underground utilities.
“This will be followed by relocation of electrical utilities and installation of new traffic light posts, widening the existing pavement, kerb and gutter repairs, footpath repairs, landscaping, asphalting and line marking.
“Work will be carried out on weekdays and Saturdays from 8pm to 5am until Friday 19 June, weather permitting.
“As needed, there will also be some minor day work between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, weather permitting.
“During work, lane closures will be in place to ensure the safety of road users and workers.
“Road users should plan their trip, allow extra travel time, and follow the direction of traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and all signs.
“Every effort will be made to minimise the impact of work on residents and businesses.
“Roads and Maritime thanks the community for their patience during this improvement work.”
