Hume Highway interchange speed limit increased to 80 km/h
13 March 2015
Motorists using the Holbrook-Wagga Road across the Hume Highway interchange are advised the speed limit at the interchange has been increased to 80 km/h to improve consistency in the area.
A spokesperson said Roads and Maritime Services carried out a speed limit review which found increasing the limit from 50 km/h to 80 km/h would provide motorists with a smoother transition from the 100 km/h zone on the highway.
“Roads and Maritime reviewed the speed limit between Pinnabar Road and Millswood Road as part of an ongoing speed zone review program and in response to community, council and NSW Police representations,” the spokesperson said.
“The review assessed factors including pedestrian activity, road environment, traffic volumes and crash data.
“The improvements aim to reduce travel times for motorists and improve speed limit consistency.
“New speed limit signs have been installed to advise motorists of the increased speed zone.”
The spokesperson said members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.
