Galston Gorge to be closed next month for safety improvement work

16 March 2015

Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists Galston Gorge will be closed to traffic next month while essential maintenance work is carried out on Galston Road.

Work will take place between Montview Parade at Hornsby Heights and Calderwood Road at Galston to provide a safer road surface for motorists.

Work will involve replacing the asphalt, line marking, removing vegetation, replacing speed advisory and curve warning signs, repairing guardrails and improving drainage.

The road will be closed between 9am and 4pm from Monday 13 April to Friday 17 April, weather permitting.

One lane will remain open at all times for emergency vehicle access only.

Motorists should use alternative routes including Old Northern Road, New Line Road, Boundary Road, Pennant Hills Road, Pacific Highway and George Street.

Detours are expected to add about 20 minutes to travel times and motorists are asked to plan their journey and allow extra time.

Electronic message signs will provide up to date information including detours and any changes to work times. The signs will be placed on approach to the Gorge and the main roads leading into Galston.

Roads and Maritime thanks motorists for their patience while this work is carried out.
