2015 Roads and Maritime Services boating handbook now available
19 March 2015
Boaters are now invited to pick up the latest edition of the Roads and Maritime NSW Boating Handbook available in print and online.
Maritime Director Angus Mitchell said the free handbook is an essential resource for boaters and contains important information including around what safety gear to carry, boating and navigation rules and actions to take in an on-water emergency.
”The 2015 edition provides detailed information about boat driver licences and vessel registration requirements, including a guide to the steps required to get a general boat or personal watercraft (PWC) licence,” Mr Mitchell said.
“The handbook includes comprehensive information on requirements around wearing a lifejacket for all recreational vessels.
“Lifejackets are the single most important piece of safety equipment on any vessel. Lifejackets save lives, but they will not save your life if you are not wearing one.
“A lifejacket never ruined a day on the water is the message running across NSW to remind boaters modern lifejackets are comfortable, convenient and can be worn all day without ruining a fun day on the water,” he said.
The new version of the handbook replaces the version last printed in November 2012.
