Nambucca Heads to Urunga upgrade progresses as Martells Road Bridge opens to traffic
15 June 2015
Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists the new Martells Road bridge over the Pacific Highway will open to traffic tomorrow as part of the $780 million Nambucca Heads to Urunga Pacific Highway upgrade.
“The 22 kilometre upgrade will open to traffic next year and a new bridge across the highway has been built for Martells Road,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
“The bridge will improve safety for motorists who need to cross the Pacific Highway.
“From Tuesday 16 June motorists will be directed by traffic control onto the new bridge to allow work to progress under the bridge on the new highway, weather permitting.
“Major work on the bridge started in June last year and more than 560 cubic metres of concrete was used to build the 67 metre long structure.
“Motorists are advised work will still be ongoing near Martells Road and are advised to plan their journeys with minor delays expected.”
