Travel time info on M5 South-West and Hills M2 Motorways to start this week
2 September 2015
Motorists using the M5 South-West and the Hills M2 motorways will benefit from travel time information via electronic message signs from this week.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said these corridors were the latest in the Sydney Orbital motorway network to provide traffic information to motorists as part of the traveller information program.
“By June next year, it is hoped other motorways including the Eastern Distributor, Lane Cove Tunnel will also offer travel time information to help motorists plan ahead,” the spokesperson said.
“Information will be displayed between 4am and 10pm, seven days a week, unless required to be overridden by emergency and other high priority messages including incident updates.
“Travel time information will be available on the M5 South-West Motorway from Thursday 3 September and on the M2 Hills Motorway from Friday 4 September, weather permitting.”
The NSW Government has allocated $14 million to the traveller information program to provide travel time details across the Sydney Orbital Motorway network.
