Motorists encouraged to slow down on two key roads in Wagga Wagga
2 OCTOBER 2015
Motorists are encouraged to slow down on Old Narrandera Road and Pine Gully Road with two speed restrictions to be introduced from 6 October.
“Roads and Maritime Services carried out a review of the speed limit as part of an ongoing speed review program and in response to community feedback,” A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
“The review assessed a number of factors along the road including pedestrian activity, road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data.
“As a result, a 70 km/h speed zone will be installed on a section of Old Narrandera Road from the Olympic Highway to 300 metres west of Pine Gully Road and the 70km/h speed zone will be extended on Pine Gully Road from Estella Road to Old Narrandera Road, replacing the 100 km/h zones.
“This change will address community concerns about safety in light of recent developments in the Estella Rise Estate and the expansion of Charles Sturt University.
“Road users should slow down ahead of the change and are reminded the reduced speed limit is enforceable once the new signs are installed.
“Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits,” A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.
