Motorists advised of speed limit changes on two key roads in Bimbi

26 October 2015

Motorists are advised of speed limit changes on Mary Gilmore Way and Bimbi-Thuddungra Road in Bimbi on Tuesday, 27 October 2015, weather permitting.

Roads and Maritime Services carried out a review of the speed restrictions as part of an ongoing speed zone review program and in response to a request from Weddin Shire Council.

“The review assessed a number of factors along the road including pedestrian activity, road environment, traffic characteristics and crash data,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

Motorists will have 260 metres to change from the 50 km/h speed limit on Mary Gilmore Way to 100 km/h, from 50 metres north of Young Street to 310 metres north of this point.

Motorists will have 100 metres to change from the 50 km/h speed limit on Bimbi-Thuddungra Road to 100 km/h from the intersection with Mary Gilmore Way to 100 metres east of this point.

“Road users should be aware of the changes and remember speed limits are enforceable once the new signs are installed,” a Roads and Maritime spokesperson said.

“Members of the community can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area and have their say on speed limits.”
