Gonn Crossing Bridge maintenance closures rescheduled
2 November 2015
Roads and Maritime Services has rescheduled maintenance work on Gonn Crossing Bridge three kilometres north of Murrabit.
A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the NSW Government provided $850,000 for essential maintenance work required to continue repairs to the bridge lift span and bridge deck ensuring the bridge continues to provide a safe crossing of the Murray River.
“Work started in early September with closures orginally planned to start this week,” the spokesperson said.
“After community consultation Roads and Maritime has rescheduled these closures to give stakeholders and the community more preparation time and to reduce the impact on harvest season.
“Work on Gonn Crossing Bridge will continue with closures to be determined at a later date.
“Roads and Maritime will keep the community informed when work dates and times are confirmed.”
Motorists are reminded a reduced load limit is still in place on Swan Hill Bridge which means vehicles more than 15 tonne will be asked to detour via Nyah Bridge, adding an additional 45 minutes of travel time to their journey. Vehicles taller than 4.1 metres will be detoured via Tooleybuc.
Roads and Maritime thank residents and road users for their patience and understanding while this important work is completed.
