Upgrade to traffic lights at corner of Rocky Point Road and Russell Avenue at Sans Souci
30 November 2015
Roads and Maritime Services will start work next week to improve road user safety by upgrading traffic lights at the intersection of Russell Avenue and Rocky Point Road at Sans Souci.
The NSW Government allocated $23,000 to install a new traffic light post on the north-west corner of the busy intersection.
The new traffic light post will be clearly visible to westbound motorists turning right into Rocky Point Road from Russell Avenue.
A Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the lights will improve pedestrian safety by ensuring motorists can see the flashing amber and red arrows which would allow pedestrians to safely cross the road.
Work will include excavating and establishing foundations for the new post, trenching for power and telecommunications and installing the new traffic light post.
Work will be carried out between 8pm and 4am from Monday 7 to Thursday 17 December, excluding weekends, weather permitting.
Some work will also be carried out as required between 10am and 2pm.
Temporary traffic changes will be in place to ensure the work zone is safe including lane closures and a reduced 40 km/h speed limit.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
